I’m a big fan of re-reading a poker book a second (even third) time. This morning the dog and I took our weekend walk to the coffee shop and plunked down for an hour and a half or so. While sipping my large non-fat mocha, I dove back into this book again (after just finishing [...]

Came home tonight from an afternoon with the boys and an evening with the neighbors (was out for a while, but managed to keep it to only 3 beers…not bad for a Friday before the holiday). Then I engaged in a little text messaging with a friend who’s quite easy on the eyes. I was [...]

A pretty successful day. I played in several single table SnG’s. $10 and $20 buy-ins. I also played in several heads-up battles ($5 and $2 buy-ins). For the single table games there was only one match where I didn’t place in the money. In the heads-up battles - same thing. So in (at least) 75% [...]

One more thing. I’ve recently armed myself with an account at http://www.officialpokerrankings.com and it’s another good tool to have when doing battle online. Once everyone’s seated at my table, one of the first things I do is go and look up everybody’s id on that site. I attach a basic note to each player about [...]

Wish I had more time to play bigger field tourneys. That’s where the money is. I’m getting comfy at the $10 and $20 buy-in range. Taking my fair share of beatings on the bubble in the 6 & 9 handed games. Placed in the money enough times to more-or-less break even yesterday. In one of [...]

Played well for the most part. Tough situation that put me in a position to either make a huge chip increase or knock me out. Flopped the nut-flush draw and was in early positon. I bet out $750 into a pot that had about $1200 into it already. Total pot now at $2,000+-. Player to [...]

As a side note - I don’t think my last post was particularly constructive or pleasant, but this is my blog and I can kinda do whatever I want. Sometimes it’ll just be venting to help me get things off my chest - and that can be helpful at times - so no apologies. I warn you [...]

Tourney = Good. I’m not a pro yet, so I couldn’t lay down JJ pre-flop from the button after E’s slightly-above-min raise. I have a horrible tendency to have a pocket pair when she min-raises and when I get all-in she’s ALWAYS got QQ. The only way I wouldn’t have gone broke in that situation [...]

Late start. Loose players…very loose. Short starting stacks. Rapidly increasing blind structure (in relation to starting stacks). If you lose one hand - you kinda have to go in to panic/double-up mode. Sorta dumb. Probably won’t go back. ‘Nuff said.

Last night for some reason I was a bit on the moody side. There was really no build-up to it, it just sort of happened…and happened in one big explosion. I’ll spare the details, but suffice it to say that I overreacted a bit when I was outplayed by an aggressive player in position. I [...]
